Add a New Vehicle

There are 3 ways to add vehicles. Which one you use will depend on the circumstance:

Copying a Carryover Vehicle From One Model Year to the Next (same trims):

This method copies everything (IOP Overrides, Device Public Comments, Vehicle Features, Vehicle Pairing Instructions) to new model year from an existing model year. Use this if there is a suitable existing model year from which to copy.  Several vehicles can be copied at one time.

  1. From the Matrix Dashboard, select Vehicles.
  2. Select Vehicle Release Years.
  3. Use filters to obtain the list of vehicles to copy FROM (normally filter by Vehicle Release Year and Vehicle Make). Select the boxes in front of all the vehicle(s) you want to copy to a new model year.
  4. Click the ‘Copy Vehicle’ button.
  5. In the "Copy to New Release Year" box, select New Release Year in the dropdown.
  6. Enter a vehicle launch date.
  7. Click the "Copy to New Year" button.
  8. Using the vehicle filters, find the new vehicle(s) you just created.
  9. Publish the vehicle(s) by checking the box in front of the vehicle(s) and click "Publish" at the top right.  Once the launch date has passed, the vehicle(s) will appear on the front facing website.

Copying From an Existing Vehicle Model to a New Vehicle Within the Same Make/Module (new trims on existing vehicle or new vehicle model for existing make/module):

This method copies everything (IOP Overrides, Device Public Comments, Vehicle Features, Vehicle Pairing Instructions) to a new vehicle from an existing make/module.  This function is used if there is a new trim for a carryover vehicle or a brand new vehicle model using an existing make/module.  Use this if there is a suitable existing vehicle from which to copy.

  1. From the Matrix Dashboard, select Vehicles.
  2. Select Vehicle Release Years.
  3. Use filters to obtain the vehicle/year you wish to copy FROM (normally filter by Module and Vehicle Model). Select the box in front of ONE vehicle you want to copy to a new vehicle.
  4. Click the ‘Copy Vehicle’ button.
  5. In the "Create Your New Vehicle" box, select an existing model name from the dropdown or enter new model name.
  6. Select an existing trim from the dropdown or enter a new trim.
  7. Select a new release year.
  8. Enter a vehicle launch date.
  9. Click "Create New Vehicle" button.
  10. Using the vehicle filters, find the new vehicle(s) you just created.
  11. Publish the vehicle by checking the box in front of the vehicle and click "Publish" at the top right.  Once the launch date has passed, the vehicle will appear on the front facing website.

Adding the First Vehicle to a New Module

Use this method to create the first vehicle assigned to a new module.  Essentially there is nothing to copy from because no vehicles have used this module before.  This the only way to assign a new vehicle to a new module, using only the IOP Testing Data (No IOP Overrides would exist, Vehicle Features would have to be assigned, and Vehicle Pairing Instructions will need to be entered). This method does not copy any data. It simply creates the vehicle and associates it to the devices that have already been tested on the new module.

  1. From the Matrix Dashboard, select Add Vehicle Wizard.
  2. Choose the Market (or create new one - RARE), then select Next.
  3. Choose the Vehicle Make (or create a new one - RARE), then select Next.
  4. Choose the Vehicle Model (or create a new one), then select Next.
  5. Choose the Vehicle Trim (or create a new one), then select Next.
  6. Select the MY of the new vehicle.
  7. Select the desired module.
  8. Enter a launch date, then select Next.
  9. Select the desired features to appear on the front facing website, if known.
  10. Click Finish.
  11. From the Matrix Dashboard, select Vehicles.
  12. Select Vehicle Release Years.
  13. Using the vehicle filters, find the new vehicle you just created.
  14. Publish the vehicle by checking the box in front of the vehicle and click "Publish" at the top right.  Once the launch date has passed, the vehicle will appear on the front facing website.
  15. Using the vehicle filters, find the vehicle you just created again.
  16. Click on the "O" in front of the Vehicle MY of the new vehicle.
  17. Enter vehicle specific pairing instructions.  If these are not known at this time, they must be entered before launch!  If entered, the "O" will change to a "Y" indicating there are model specific pairing instructions associated to this vehicle.
  18. Vehicle Features can be editted from here.

Editing a Vehicle

Editing a vehicle should be done carefully.  In most instances, it will be better to delete the vehicle entirely and create new from one of the above 3 steps.  If only a typo is found in the model name or trim, those can be corrected by following the steps below.

Model Error:

  1. From the Matrix Dashboard, click Vehicles.
  2. Click Vehicle Model if there is a model error.
  3. Find the model in the list using the filters.
  4. Check to ensure this vehicle is only used one time.  If used multiple times, make certain all instances of the vehicle model should be corrected/changed. Otherwise create the vehicle using the 2nd option from above and enter the model as a new model name.
  5. If confirmed okay to edit, perform the edit.
  6. Select Save & Close.

 Trim Error:

  1. From the Matrix Dashboard, click Vehicles.
  2. Select Vehicle Trim if there is a trim error.
  3. Find the trim using the filters.
  4. Check to ensure this trim is only used one time.  If used multiple times, make certain all instances of the vehicle trim should be corrected/changed.  Otherwise create the vehicle using the 2nd option from above and enter the trim as a new trim name.
  5. If confirmed okay to edit, perform the edit.
  6. Select Save & Close.

NEVER CHANGE THE MODULE/REGION/MARKET ASSOCIATED TO A VEHICLE ID!!  This vehicle may have been copied using the options above so IOP Overrides, Vehicle Features, Public Comments, and Vehicle Pairing Instructions that already exist for this vehicle ID may not apply to the new combination.  The launch date CAN be easily adjusted here.

Launch Date:

  1. From the Matrix Dashboard, click Vehicles.
  2. Click Vehicle Release Years.
  3. Using the filters, find the vehicle to change.
  4. Click the MY of the vehicle to edit the Vehicle Record
  5. Modify the Launch Date
  6. Select Save & Close.

NOTE:  Once a new vehicle is added, it will initially be set to "unpublished".  The vehicle will not show up on the front facing OEM website until the status indicator is set to "published" and the launch date has been reached.
