Module/Vehicle Features

  •  Features - The list of possible features is derived from every feature we've ever published on one of our front facing websites.  As modules receive new features and we add new features to our front facing websites, they are entered into our Features table and then correlated to one of the steps in the test plan.  Currently our web programmer must handle creating the correlation.  Future upgrades to the Admin site will allow us to manage it.
  • Module Features - From the Features table, the set of features the module can perform is selected.
  • Vehicle Features - Vehicles are assigned to a particular module.  From the list of features the module can perform, the list of features the vehicle can perform is selected.  NOTE:  This actually controls what features are published on the front facing website.

Entering Features

  1. From the Matrix Dashboard, select Electronics.
  2. Select Features.
  3. Select New from the top right.
  4. In the Joomla Category ID box, select the test step to associate the new feature to.
  5. In Feature Label, type the name of the new feature.
  6. In the Feature Category dropdown, select the appropriate category.  Most of our features will fit within Advanced Feature, Apps, Streaming Audio, etc.  Depending on the new feature, new feature categories may need to be created prior to entering the features.  Our web programming would assist.
  7. Legacy Label will not be used for new features moving forward.  Leave it blank.
  8. In the Device Category ID dropdown, select either Phone, Media Player, or Tablet.  Distinguishing features by device type allows us to show a different feature set by device type on our front facing website.  More device types may be necessary in the future.
  9. Set the Status to Published.
  10. Select Save & Close.

Entering Module Features

  1. From the Matrix Dashboard, select Electronics.
  2. Select Electronics Modules.
  3. Find the desired module and click "Features" located in the first column in front of the module name.  If the module does not yet exist, please review How To: Add/Edit a Module for more information.
  4. The right column is the entire list of possible features.  Click and drag the desired features to the left column, one-by-one.  NOTE:  Features that are highlighted in green are features that use logic to access multiple tests within the test plan to provide an overall feature result.  In the future, the Admin site will display the logic so we have visibility to it.
  5. Once the features are completed, if the module is used across multiple regions, the Makes/Region tabs will be located along the top.  At the bottom, there is a "Copy to Other Vehicle Makes".
  6. Check the appropriate Makes/Region.
  7. Select Perform Copy.
  8. Click Return to Modules to return to the main list.  NOTE:  Saving is performed automatically as each feature is dragged.  No Save button is present.

NOTE:  If the module was originally copied via the "Save as Copy" function from the original module, the features of the original module will already be present.  Then only new features need to be added.
